The stars shine brighter at the head of Lake Whakatipu. Join us in the world’s newest International Dark Sky Sanctuary, just 45 minutes from Queenstown, for a cosy winter meal and evening beneath the stars.
Begin with dinner in our lodge, before heading outdoors to explore the night sky with an expert guide from Tāhuna Glenorchy Dark Sky Sanctuary. Snuggle into your own bean bag with a blanket and binoculars, take turns at the telescope with our guide, then gather by the fire in the heated Scheelite Shelter with a mulled wine or hot chocolate and toast marshmallows.
About the Dark Sky Sanctuary
Tāhuna Glenorchy is the world’s newest Dark Sky Sanctuary, one of only four such sanctuaries in New Zealand, and 23 around the world. On a clear night, you can imagine yourself reaching out to touch them, just beyond the mountain peaks.
